ASTORIA OREGON

We went on our yearly vacation to the coast. We usually go to Seaside but this year we went to AStoria, which is only about 12 miles north of Seaside.
Astoria is located at the end of the Columbia River, where it dumps into the Ocean...We had a nice hotel right on the river and underneath the huge bridge that takes you across the Columbia to Washington. When we first arrived we had a BBQ at a couple's house that lives on the Columbia. The kids played on the river and picked all sorts of stuff. We saw a lot of jelly fish washed up on the beach..

A friend of Steve's from ISU was there, he works for the ESD in Pendleton and he and his wife have 4 boys and she is expecting another and we are due the same day... These are their 4 boys in the yellow.

Our hotel had a swimming pool, so after playing on the beach and getting cold in the ocean we would go back and swim in the warm hotel pool..

Thursday Steve had meetings most of the day so us girls took the day and had lots of fun.. We went to the Maritime Museum, the Active Coast Gaurd and toured a large freighter..

Then we went back to hotel and packed up for the beach. We went to Fort Steven's National Park which had a wonderful beach called "Shipwreck Beach". There was actually a left over ship on the beach. Stupid me forgot to get a picture of it..

After a few hours of wave jumping and body burrying we went and got cleaned up and then went to Seaside for lunch and for more fun...We had lunch in an old lighthouse, went to the aquarium and zoey just loved the sea lions slapping themselves and showing off.. Seaside has an all year round carnival type thing that has a carousel, bumpers cars, miniture golf and a spin ride. They rode the spin ride, went to one of the many chocolate stores, a lot of window shopping and then we headed back to Astoria. once we got to the Hotel, guess what we did????You got it, swimming in the pool.

Thursday was a long day for me. When Steve met up with us he asked how the day was and I said 'Long and miserable".. It wasn't really but it did wipe me out..Friday was a little less active. We swam, (of course) walked along the boardwalk through Astoria, went to go on a trolley ride and it broke down as we got on, so we sat on the trolley for about 30 minutes before they decided they weren't going to be able to fix it, so we got off. Right behind our motel we had our own private beach so the girls played there for a few hours..

The girls private beach..

Very short trolley ride

We packed up Saturday (after a swim in the pool) and headed for home..Bye Bye Astoria

it is strange to be sitting here where it is so hot, and see you playing in sweatshirts.
I love the coast, that is great that you get to go every year! Although, touring while pregnant- and steve not with you.......uuuggh. I bet you are exhausted!

So beautiful! Glad to hear you had a fun trip; sorry it is so exhausting to vacation with little ones. I've only had a few vacations with just one little guy and you almost need a break after you return home. Anyway, loved the pictures and smiles on your adorable girls' faces. They are so beautiful.

I saw your pic with your comment on Jessica's blog and I was like, that is Rachelle. Anyways I hope all is well with you. Looks like you are busy with your 4 kids and one on the way. Your girls are so cute. You're in Oregon right? It is nice to be close to the coast. Makes vacations great! Keep up the great pics and blogging. I stink at it.

Your vacation looked wonderful. I forget how beautiful the Oregon Coast is... it has been way too long since I have been there. And to feel a little cooler weather than here would be wonderful.

You are a trooper to be 7 months pregnant and on the go. It looked fun though!
